Is Spring Fever Fact or Fiction?
As the temperatures get warmer this spring, you may get the itch to head outside. This urge, often called spring fever, is a common occurrence that includes any number of symptoms, including:
- Decreased appetite.
- Daydreams.
- Restlessness.
- Heightened heart rate.
Several things may play a role in the cause of spring fever, including the level of serotonin or "happiness hormone." Its production levels depend on sunlight, so when the days are shorter during the long winter months, the body has to work harder to produce it, often causing the feeling of tiredness.
Put a Spring in Your Step
To combat symptoms, be sure to get plenty of rest, eat a healthy diet filled with fruits, vegetables and whole grains and try to exercise for 30 minutes every day.
